Some of the family-friendly places with discounts included with the Berlin WelcomeCard are:

  • TV Tower
  • Museum of Technology
  • Charlottenburg Palace
  • Berlin Zoo
  • Berlin Aquarium

  • Legoland Discovery Centre Berlin

The booklet that comes with the WelcomeCard also doubles up as a useful mini-guide that can be carried around in your pocket. An online version of the guide can be read in English, German, Spanish and Italian here. The paper version of the booklet comes in English and German.

There are a couple of Berlin WelcomeCard options available, so you can choose which best suits you. Here is what's available:

Berlin WelcomeCard (AB public transport zones) with Guidebook - 48 Hours
from €18,50 per person

Berlin WelcomeCard (ABC public transport zones) with Guidebook - 48 Hours

Berlin WelcomeCard (AB public transport zones) with Guidebook - 72 Hours

Berlin WelcomeCard (AB public transport zones) with Guidebook - 5 days

Berlin WelcomeCard + Museum Island (ABC zones) with Guidebook - 72 Hours
from €36,00 per person

All variations of the Berlin WelcomeCard allow an unlimited number of children up to age 6 to travel for free. The Berlin + Potsdam WelcomeCard (the ones with zones ABC) also allow children aged 6-15 to travel free with an accompanying adult.

The Berlin WelcomeCards can be bought at the Tourist Info-Points dotted around the city and at Berlin's Airports.

Some things worth knowing...

- The standard Berlin WelcomeCards don't include entry to the museums on Berlin's Museum Island (Museuminsel), the '+ Museum Island' cards include free entry to those museums (which are quite pricey) excl. special exhibitions.

- if you fly in to Schönefeld Airport, it is based in zone C, so it is worth buying the ABC zoned WelcomeCard if you will be travelling to and from the airport in the time you will be using it.

- in Berlin, tickets for public transport must be validated before you travel, or they will not be valid for travel. In order to validate your tickets, find the small machines, normaly placed next to the ticket machines and put your ticket inside. Once validated, a stamped set of numbers will appear on the ticket.
