However, there could be an simple solution.. having spoken to Shanay Hall (an Australian doula based in Berlin), she informs me that something which is not automatically checked for in a baby at birth, is tongue-tie. This is a very common, and easily rectified problem, but it is often missed and can cause unnecessary and avoidable issues with breast-feeding. If you are having problems feeding after birth, ask to get it checked before leaving the hospital/birthing house. If they won't diagnose it, get in touch with Dr Jessica Drews-Gloe here and save you and your baby a lot of heart (and breast) ache.
