I have been to Plaenterwald a few times with the kids but never had the opportunity to go to the beautiful 'Forest Playground' (Waldspielplatz) there until this last weekend. I was blown away by the mix of natural elements (the kids were building their own treehouse out of branches found in the forest surrounding the playground) and the structures such as climbing frames, a steam train, a tractor and boats all made from pieces of trees.
I took the kids here and they were delighted. There was lots for my toddler to explore and he loved climbing in and out of the various levels of the wooden boats and running in and out of the hut, and my five year old was in his element here. The playground was a treasure trove of creative outlets, with him being able to build and explore to his heart's content.
If you take your children here, do expect them to leave dirtier and more exhausted than when they came. Even with it being dry, their feet turned a shade of dark brown and their faces, arms and legs weren't much different but boy were they oh-so-happy. This will definitely become one of our favourite spots to visit across the year. Childhood bliss.

FOREST PLAYGROUND PLAENTERWALD
The playground can be found at the end of Eichbuschallee, where it meets with Neue Krugallee and meets the Plaenterwald. Head down the path and take the path on the left when you get near the sports hall (which is on the path to the right). Keep going 1 minute or so and you will find the playground.
