A meeting this morning meant I had the chance to visit and photograph this wonderful gem of a playground hidden off the beaten path in Neukölln. Situated just a minutes walk from S Bahn Köllnische Heide, this large playground has a fairy tale theme and boy does it go for it!
Dotted all around the playground are various little charaters, wonderful little details to discover and plenty to play on for toddlers upwards. The playground offers so many options for climbing, swinging, jumping and bouncing, what more could an adventurous child wish for?!
The playground is in generally good condition. There is of course the standard Berlin graffiti, although not a huge amount. The castle is fantastic with plenty of areas to discover as you clamber up it and a swirly slide for a joyous exit.
In one corner there was a water pump but it wasn't working when I gave it a try so not sure if it's broken in the long term or has been turned off for some reason. It doesn't really matter though as there is so much to do here that the lack of water can be easily forgiven.
The playground is designed for 3-12 year olds and with the size of it and the array of places to play, you do need to keep a keen eye on the littlest ones to make sure you don't lose them! My oldest boy loves this playground though and it is well worth the effort to get there. As well as the S Bahn situated close by, the M41 bus also stops off pretty much outside (stop at S Köllnische Heide).
If your children really love fairy tales, castles, nights, 3 headed dragons (really), crocodiles and the like, take them here and they'll be pleased as punch!
