We recently headed over to Wedding to check out a place I've been curious about for quite a while, the Labyrinth Kindermuseum! I squeezed in a few photos whilst there and thought I'd write a review...

The Labyrinth Kindermuseum is located in a large, red, industrial looking building in the district of Wedding and is anything but a museum. Instead, what we discovered was a treasure trove of crevices to hide and climb in, buildings to explore, stairs to climb and scramble on and a fabulous road to drive around on a little ladybird, on a space hopper (remember those things?!!!!) or a trike.
This space is shoe free and there is an area by the entrance where you store your shoes, coats etc and I highly recommend you bring anti-slip socks or slippers for your child(ren) for your visit as the floor is quite slippery as they run around. There are some stopper socks available but it's easier really to bring your own if you have them.
After you put your shoes and outdoor-wear away, there are a number of spaces for you and your little ones to explore. There is a large main room, which features a roadway, complete with traffic lights, two house-like buildings that can be climbed and explored, a little area where children can play 'shopkeeper' and then there is a cafe area, where you can purchase basic foods and drinks, along with seating and, the big bonus for me, a tiered seating area where you can sit and eat your own food you've brought with you, should you wish. Many parents were stationed on these seats, watching their children play down below whilst others played inside the areas with their kids.
Go upstairs and you will find more spaces with evolving displays and play areas. You can see the pictures above and below of what we discovered whilst visiting. There was a fabulous area (pictured above) where you could roll marbles down these long tubes in to buckets at the end and the best part of the exhibition was the building area (pictured below). Children are able to dress up in high visibility jackets, wear builders hats and a tool belt and get to play with a large crane, moving soft blocks around the space, they can build a wall out of blocks with their play trowel and basically play dress up to their hearts content. This exhibition has been at Labyrinth Kindermuseum for quite a while now and has been extended until 3rd April 2016. If your child likes to play builder, this is seriously the place for them! Recommended ages for the exhibition are between 3-11 years. I am curious as to what will come after this exhibition closes.
The space is large and whilst is did get busy as the day went along, it wasn't too hectic whilst we were there. This space is a little run down in places but it is only to be expected in an environment where children get free rain to run around and enjoy themselves. I personally loved it and so did my boy. We only took the youngest but his big brother will definitely join us on our next trip over to Wedding for it as I know he'll love it too.
It's worth noting that the main play area downstairs changes its 'exhibition' regularly, so you may not find exactly the road area and wooden structure as written here. The upstairs gallery remains much the same though, with shops, soft play areas, puzzle games etc. But whatever you find there, you can be assured it will be fun!
