Since late 2012 a popular Saturday food market (Wochenmarkt) has been taking place right outside Südstern U Bahn station and since our move to Kreuzberg, we have become regular visitors, often enjoying lunch there and buying flowers and food from their stalls.
It's a family-friendly market with many visitors spending their lunch time there with babies, toddlers and older children too. Visit regularly and you will start to become familiar with faces who can be seen there each Saturday.
There are a couple of lovely flower stalls, but the main emphasis is on food and you can find a range of stalls there selling products ranging from cheeses, sausages, wines, liquorice, fresh vegetables from local farms, freshly squeezed orange juice etc. Some of the stalls can be seen there each week, whilst others swap around. You can find hot street food stalls such as Korean Kimchi, Mexican, Crepes and Waffles, Burgers and Italian food, with several tables and benches to sit down at. Get there early though, as the demand is high. There's also a good German wines stall, if you fancy a little livener for the day!

Also not far away is the British food shop Broken English for those of you who are partial to a British chocolate bar or tea. There is also a cute playground on the same street (Körtestr.) for the kids to have a play. Also near by is the fabulous secondhand market in the picturesque Bergmannkiez and there's also a playground there although this one is geared a bit more to slightly older kids I find.
