Prenzlauer Berg has a large number of babies and toddlers within its local population and a number of Eltern-Kind-Cafes to meet the demand. Here are my photos and info about Das Spielzimmer near Helmholzplatz.
Before entering Das Spielzimmer, you are expected to lock your prams/buggies/pushchairs outside (you aren't allowed to bring them indoors, quite common here). The cafe has a nice calm feel to it (when it's quite at least) and you will find two separate play sections for the different age ranges. On one side there's a small ball pit with mini-slide and cushioned crawling area. In the back, there's a soft play, climbing area for the slightly older ones.

I really like the play area for the little babies and whilst the back room, with its soft-play climbing frame is fab on quiet days, it is a bit of a nightmare once the cafe gets full. It is separated from the main cafe area and so you can't really keep an eye on the kids and if you toddler gets in to trouble, it can be quite tough getting through the scrambling, older kids to get to them.
They serve nice enough food with a selection of toasted flatbreads, cake and the like. They also sell a selection of baby food jars, but you are allowed to bring your own baby food with you if you wish. Highchairs are of course available and there is baby changing in the unisex toilets (which is good for the dads).
This cafe can become quite a squeeze on the busier days, but catch it when it's quieter and it's a nice little place to while away a few hours with baby and friends.
