"Eis, Eis, Eis" or ice cream as we call it in our household and it's all the kids think about this time of year (I must admit I think about it quite a lot too!) Thankfully Berlin is full of ice cream parlours with a multitude of flavours and types on offer. Here is my list of the places to find Berlin's Best Ice Cream, which is your favourite...?
Jones Ice cream (Schöneberg)
Goltzstrasse 3, 10781 Berlin
In my opinion, the best ice-cream in Berlin. Enter the Brooklyn-style parlour and be engulfed by the warm, mouth-watering aroma of baking waffle cone. They make their own here, and you'd be a fool not to pay the 50 centimes extra to upgrade. Their flavours are insanely good too.
Uhlala (Charlottenburg)
Uhlandstr. 168, 10719 Berlin
A limited but über-tasty selection of creative of handmade ice creams
Eis Manufactur Berlin (Friedrichshain, Mitte, Kreuzberg, Neukoelln)
Neukoelln: Karl-Marx-Platz 17, 12043 Berlin & Weserstraße 6, 12047 Berlin
Friedrichshain: Corner of Simplonstraße/ Gärtnerstraße 33a, 10245 Berlin
Mitte: Auguststraße 63, 10115 Berlin
Kreuzberg: Graefestr. 7, 10967 Berlin
Berlin Homemade Ice Cream (Schöneberg)
Elßholzstraße 10, 10781 Berlin
Just as it says on the tin, this ice cream is 100% homemade and 100% delicious.
Al Teatro (Friedrichshain, Steglitz, Mitte)
Ostbahnhof Station, Gropius-Passagen, Das Schloss-Steglitz, Friedrichstrasse Station, Alexanderplatz Station
Located in a number of the main stations and shopping centres, don't think that this ice cream is just for the tourists. It's one of my reader's favourites! They also offer lactose free varieties.
Eisbox (Moabit)
Elberfelder Straße 27, 10555 Berlin
Offering many unique flavours, this handmade and BIO ice cream is well worth a try.
Kauf Dich Glücklich (Prenzlauer Berg)
Oderberger Straße 44, 10435 Berlin
Located near Mauerpark, this cafe serves delicious ice cream and you can even enjoy it atop a yummy waffle!
Die Eismacher (Schmargendorf)
Breite Straße 14 A, 14199 Berlin
With generous scoops and friendly service adding to the taste of the scrumptious ice cream, this place is well worth a visit if you're in the area.
Rosa Canina (Prenzlauer Berg)
Pasteurstraße 32, 10407 Berlin
Organic ice cream at it's very best!
Mos Eisley (Neukoelln)
Herrfurthplatz 6, 12049 Berlin
With a large variety of flavours (including some rather unusual ones...think gin!) this Neukoelln ice cream parlour is very popular. It also includes a range of vegan ice creams for those who are looking.
Vanille & Marille (Steglitz, Kreuzberg, Tempelhof & Schöneberg),
Steglitz: Leydenallee 92, (corner Schützenstraße), 12165 Berlin
Kreuzberg: Hagelberger Str. 1, 10965 Berlin
Tempelhof: Friedrich-Wilhelm-Str. 22, 12103 Berlin
Schöneberg: Belziger Straße 26, 10823 Berlin
This Eisladen promises unusual flavours as well as lactose-free options. There are 4 of these ice cream shops placed around the city so chances are you won't be too far from one of them! You can check out their flavours on offer (in German) on their website here.
Anna Durkes (Kreuzberg)
Graefestraße 80, 10967 Berlin Kreuzberg
Scoop up your ice cream (pardon the pun) and take a walk along the canal with this authentic Italian style ice cream.
ErsteSahne (Neukölln)
Kienitzerstr. 116, 12049 Berlin
The service here can be a little on the slow side, however the homemade ice creams are worth the wait. Their are plenty to choose from, with the flavours changing regularly and lactose-free options and even ice cream with olive oil!
Hokey Pokey (Prenzlauer Berg)
Stargarder Straße 73, 10437 Berlin
Certainly not one of the cheapest options in the city, however this place stands out for the interesting variations of flavours and ultra friendly service.
Amorino Gelato al Naturale (Mitte)
Oranienburger Straße 1-3, 10178 Berlin & Kurfüstendamm 21, 10179 Berlin
Truly traditional ice cream available near Hackesher Markt and on Ku'Damm.
